How Chris Faber Photography Got Its Start
Welcome to Chris Faber Photography! As you may have guessed, my name is Chris Faber. I am a husband to my incredible wife, Emma, father to my greatest joy, Vivian, and hopefully, your future Lafayette photographer!
Being photographed by a stranger can cause some people to feel uncomfortable. So, I want to provide you with the opportunity to get to know me! To begin, know that I am a photographer of all sorts. Proposals, engagements, weddings, senior portraits, corporate events, private celebrations; no matter what you are experiencing in life, know that I would be pleased with the opportunity to capture your most precious memories.
To shed some light on how I gained interest in photography, know that it all started in college, as I was majoring at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in Product Design. I completed many projects in college, and I had to use my camera to capture them all, which prompted me to discover an interest in photography. In addition, I have a background in jewelry design, making it so I certainly understand how important it is to pay attention to each and every detail, especially when it comes to photography.
However, it wasn’t until a few years after, in 2015, that I realized that I had an immense passion for photography! One of my best friends to this day had asked me if I could fly with him and his girlfriend (who is now his wife) to capture him proposing to her. Of course, I was incredibly honored with the opportunity, but I had never photographed such an important moment before, so both nerves and excitement had taken over. I was familiar with a low-end DSLR camera that I had bought for my wife as a wedding gift, so it was time to take it out and put it to good use!
Anyone who knows me knows that I am incredibly passionate about whatever I am interested in. So, I immediately dove headfirst into learning and absorbing as much information as possible about photography, to ensure that I captured my best friend’s proposal to perfection!
After months and months of preparation and practice, the time had come! We arrived at the Space Needle in Seattle, Washington, and my heart was beating out of my chest as I prepared to capture my best friends’ proposal. However, I did so with ease, and couldn’t have been more grateful for the opportunity.
A week after, it was time for everyone to view the photos! We were all drinking wine and enjoying casual conversation, as everyone began viewing the images among the screen. I was then able to see the impact that my photographs had on everyone, as the emotions on their faces were so wonderful to experience. From that day forward, I knew that a portrait and wedding photographer was a passion that I wanted to turn into a career! I wanted to capture people’s most important and sentimental moments of their lives.
Fast forward 4 year to the present and years of education, and perfecting my craft, I have finally reached a comfortable state to let other’s in on my journey as I follow my passion as a photographer, as I hope to also inspire others to go after what makes them happy!
